Things to do in week 11

Given what is on your plate at the moment, this week is light in terms of reading. The notion of activism in the academy is an important one. You might think of scholarly work on a kind of spectrum. At one end is work that continues to explore and support the current set of ideas and thinking around a particular topic. Further along, you have work that seeks to disrupt or change things. A lot of educational scholarly work is of this ilk. It's often framed in terms of improvement but at the heart of it is to change from what is to what might be. Perhaps at the far end is work that actually engages with a particular wicked problem and involves scholars working alongside the people affected by it.

Thinking about your work in terms of intellectual activism is worth doing. How you see your work in these terms can contribute to the ongoing task of improving the way you think about your research agenda.
